Disc Jockey: DJ Stephen Day

DJ Stephen started his career at 17 years old in the northeast of England in 1998, where he gained a three night weekly residency in the main room of the best club in his home town of Darlington, playing his deep and soulful house music

Towards the end of 2002, DJ Stephen started to play more underground disco and eighties electro in his sets, as his passion and knowledge for this music grew. He then teamed up with disco legend Nigel Wanless (aka ’Brutus Gold’), owner of Phreek Productions. Together they started a Studio 54 night, which became a huge success and was booked to tour the whole of the United Kingdom. It had residencies in places such as: ’Arch 9’ in Manchester, ’The Works’ in Nottingham, ’The Empire’ in Middlesbrough, Bath and Leeds University, Fubar in Stirling, Scotland, Oceana in London and Gatecrasher in Leeds.

DJ Stephen still wanted to keep playing, spreading the word of his first love, house music. So he created a night called ’RAW’, held at a club in Darlington called ’Atlantic’. He was the promoter and resident DJ for the ’RAW’ nights and had the pleasure of working with the UK’s most popular DJs.

In December 2005, Stephen packed his bags and flew out to Asia to become a resident DJ at the breakthrough ’Ministry of Sound’ super club in Singapore.
